Oztek Corporation is pleased to announce that as of October 11th, the California Energy Commission’s (CEC) approved inverter list has been updated to reflect that the OZpcs-RS40 power conversion system now meets all the California Public Utility Commission’s (CPUC) Rule 21 Phase 2 and 3 requirements. These requirements include the capability to communicate using the IEEE 2030.5 Common Smart Inverter Profile (CSIP) protocol, as well as providing Disable Permit Service (SA17), Limit Active Power (SA18), and Monitor Key Data Scheduling features. The product was tested by Intertek, a nationally recognized testing laboratory.
“We are pleased that the RS40 system has been added to the CEC approved inverter list,” said Oztek CEO and President, John O’Connor. “This will enable our partners to move forward in the permitting process with ISOs (Independent System Operator) in the growing California Energy Storage Market.”
The 40-kilowatt OZpcs-RS40 is a rack mounted, four-quadrant, bi-directional, three-phase power conversion system (PCS) specifically designed for grid tied and micro-grid energy storage applications. The transformerless design and 2.5U rack mounted form factor allows for easy paralleling, enabling flexible and sophisticated energy storage system architectures. The system has been integrated into numerous grid tied and micro-grid energy storage systems across the country and has a strong track record of high quality performance and dependability.
The CPUC Rule 21 requirements mandate standardized communications and features for all devices, including inverters, and are required for connection to Investor-Owned Utility (IOU) networks. Certification is now mandatory in California, and part of a larger strategy for solar and energy storage systems to enable overall utility system interoperability and smart grid capabilities.
