Oztek OZPCS-RS40 Power Conversion System has passed CA Rule 21 Phase 2 & 3 Certification Testing

Merrimack, N.H. (August 25, 2021)

Oztek Corporation, a leading provider of power conversion systems, announced that its OZpcs-RS40 power conversion system has demonstrated the ability to meet the California Public Utility Commission’s (CPUC) Rule 21 Phase 2 and 3 requirements. These requirements include the capability to communicate using the IEEE 2030.5 Common Smart Inverter Profile (CSIP) protocol, as well as providing Disable Permit Service (SA17) and Limit Active Power (SA18) features. The product was tested by Intertek, a nationally recognized testing laboratory.

The 40-kilowatt OZpcs-RS40 is a rack mounted, four-quadrant, bi-directional, three phase power conversion system (PCS) specifically designed for grid tied and micro-grid energy storage applications. The transformerless design and 2.5U rack mounted form factor allow for easy paralleling, enabling flexible and sophisticated energy storage system architectures. The system has been integrated into numerous grid-tied and micro-grid energy storage systems across the country and has a strong track record of high quality, performance, and dependability.

“We are pleased that the RS40 passed the certification testing process and is now fully compliant with CPUC requirements,” said Oztek CEO and President, John O’Connor. “This certification is a key milestone in enabling our customers to fully serve the growing California Energy Storage Market.”

The CPUC Rule 21 requirements mandate standardized communications and features for all devices, including inverters, and are required for connection to Investor-Owned Utility (IOU) networks. Certification is now mandatory in California, and part of a larger strategy for solar and energy storage systems to enable overall utility system interoperability and smart grid capabilities.
